Elementary Spiritual and Special Emphasis Week (SEW), which ran from October 30–November 2, was an exciting time for students. The Windles are much loved special guests, and they once again brought their troop of puppets along with them to help teach the both NICS and Oasis students valuable lessons, helping them engage with some of life's most important questions. Their puppets Hairy and Snozzle are perhaps the most loved by the children, and like all the characters, learn a lot like children—by asking questions, discussing them, learning from their mistakes and trying again.
For NICS classes, the Windles and their hairy friends taught how the kingdom of God is where life's real treasures can be found through Jesus and how to seek and find those treasures. For Oasis classes, the Windles used humor to teach about perseverance, joy, and preparation, among other wisdom-traits. In both programs, the elementary students learned to develop a seeking heart and find joy in the journey. Throughout the week, students laughed a great deal, learned a lot, and by the end were sad to see the Windles leave!
