Each year, YISS sets aside several school days to recognize and honor the country and culture in which we live. These days, collectively called "Celebrate Korea Days (CKD)" were held the week of April 25-29. As a school, our elementary classes were involved in specially themed activities and field trips which were designed to promote a love and enjoyment of different aspects of Korean culture. On Wednesday, the students were invited to wear traditional Korean clothing such as Hanboks or Korean sports jerseys.
Over the course of the week, our Kindergarten students studied Korean foods and learned how to make kimbap. Our 1st grade students learned about Korean Sports and Games. Traditional Korean Art & History was the focus for our 2nd grade students and 3rd grade studied Korean History and Architecture. The 4th Grade learned about nature, beauty and protection and our oldest students in the 5th grade explored personal interests related to Korean Culture.
