5th Grade Explores the Seoul Zoo

By Ellie Moncada Oct 20, 2016

With every autumn and turn of the leaves the entire 5th grade gets to take its annual field trip to the Zoo at Seoul Grand Park. Pupils spend the day encountering some of their favorite creatures, meeting face-to-face many of the animals they had recently studied from their Classification and Ecosystem science units. Throughout the day, students are on a mission to round out their studies by finding one animal to represent each class of the Animal Kingdom, and by donning the work of real zoologists who take field notes and sketch the creatures and habitats they are studying. The trip is a great capstone to every fifth grader's first quarter of scientific exploration, and a fantastic way to spend some time outdoors beneath the crisp, azure skies of the Korean fall.
