YISS Makes Waves at All-Ages Swim Competitions

By Tim Linn Nov 29, 2017

YISS swimmers of all ages excelled at recent swim competitions. All-ages swim competitions are great opportunities for students who are just starting out in the sport of competitive swimming, as well as for more seasoned competitive swimmers.

On October 28, 2017, 50 YISS swimmers attended the Pumpkin Splash held at SFS. The students swam fast and set many personal records. Guardian spirit was on display as older swimmers cheered and helped younger, less experienced swimmers.

More recently, YISS swimmers seized another opportunity to challenge themselves as they competed in the Chadwick Winter Swim Invitational on November 25, 2017. Forty-five students ranging from 5 years old to 14 years old represented YISS in the competition. The swimmers were motivated by competing against several other schools including Chadwick, Dulwich, Dwight, KIS Jeju, and SFS. YISS stood out, winning several events and setting several new meet records. Individual improvement was recognized as each individual who achieved a personal record was awarded a prize at the competition. Three YISS swimmers, Kyle W. (9), Jeffrey Y. (6) , and Ludia Y. (3), received the “Top Performer” award, which was the highest honor awarded at the competition. They determined the winners of the award by comparing an individual's record to that of the rest of the world.

Next up for YISS swimmers is our very own Jingle Bell Splash on December 9, 2017! Registration for this festive competition is happening now and closes on December 4. Click here to register. Contact YISS swimming if you have any questions.
