Sep 3, 2017

The YISS varsity girls volleyball team won the Korea Classic Volleyball Tournament for the third year in a row, beating SIS, KIS, and TCIS in straight sets. Freshman middle blocker Navya Kala led the team in kills and aces. The team also relied on their tenacious defense and strong serving to lead them to victory. With only two juniors and nine underclassmen, the team has worked hard and shown a lot of maturity. Captain hitter Isadora Oh has demonstrated strong leadership in promoting team unity, which has been key to the team's success. The team has tremendous potential for a winning season!

The boys team put up an excellent performance at the tournament as well. They played three very competitive games that all went into deciding sets. The tournament ended with a tie break for first in TCIS’ favor, but the Guardians left proud of what they had accomplished and with goals for future games. The strength of the team was in the brotherhood amongst the players and the determination to not give up and fight for each point. It is going to be an exciting season!
