MS Cross Country Teams Take the Lead at their First Meet

On Saturday, September 16, YISS traveled to SFS to participate in their first middle school cross country meet for the 2017-18 season. Participating schools included CI, GSIS, KIS, KKFS, SFS, SIS, and TCIS.With only three weeks of practice under their belts, the middle school runners were unsure how they would compare to the competition. The 3K course began on the soccer field and involved three laps around the SFS campus. The boys ran first at 8:45 a.m. followed by the girls at 9:15 a.m.

The boys ran first at 8:45 a.m. followed by the girls at 9:15 a.m.Both the YISS boys and girls teams did exceptionally well. Out of 105 girl runners, YISS had five girls finish in the top thirteen. Similarly, out of 93 boy runners, YISS had five boys finish in the top sixteen. Although team scores are not officially tallied at middle school meets, it was clear that both the YISS boys and girls teams were strong competitors among the eight participating teams.

Our runners have another meet on October 14 at KIS. Running under the guidance of Coach Grant Davis, Coach Stephanie Manni, and Coach Kirstan Beatty, the YISS cross country team is certain to represent our school well and take the lead! Go Guardians!
