MS Cross Country Defends Titles and Sets New Record

Cross country is always a sport that piques the interest of many, especially those who prefer individual competitions and the chance to push themselves to new levels. With a team of almost 40 boys and girls with different abilities, the middle school cross country team hit the trails, tracks, roads, hills, and wherever else they could find space to run. After traveling to SFS for their first jamboree, the Guardians looked forward to having the opportunity to have a meet at home. However, after a cancellation due to weather, they found themselves awaiting the final meet and All-Star meet at KIS.

With high expectations, the Guardians looked to defend the titles that they had won the previous year, and they did not disappoint. Finishing 1st overall for the girls was Hannah L. (7) with a time of 22:19, leading the girls in a convincing win again. The boys' race was a much different story. After being led by Timothy P. (8), who set a new MS KAIAC record of 19:17, the action was actually in the rear of the pack. David L. (7) edged out two SIS runners to seal the title for the boys as well. Hannah L., Timothy P., and Joseph L. (8) were all recognized on the All-Tournament Team for their top-five finishes.
