During the first week of school in January, YISS celebrated Homecoming with a full week’s worth of events. Homecoming was meaningful to both alumni who were able to attend as well as for YISS to continue to stay connected with graduates. This year's events saw a range of alumni coming "home" to YISS, from 2006 to 2017 graduates. In the past two years, some additions to the lineup of events have drawn an increasing number of alumni back to YISS. These included a staff vs. alumni volleyball game, alumni soccer scrimmage, coffee and doughnuts, and a raffle drawing for a few lucky returners. The annual staff vs. alumni basketball game continued to be popular as well.

Wednesday, January 10 was the actual day of Homecoming, and alumni had an opportunity to have a whole-day experience, starting with an alumni luncheon. They then headed over to the gym for the all-school pep rally, during which they were recognized in front of the entire student body. This year, YISS’ opponent for the Homecoming games was TCIS. During the games, the graduates were able to enjoy coffee and doughnuts in the gym lobby, where they could catch up with old friends and receive some free YISS gear to take home with them. After the first game, the alumni were again recognized in front of the crowd by being presented with a rose, symbolizing YISS' continued affection for our Guardians. Overall, the approximately 30 alumni who returned did not just watch the basketball games; they were able to reconnect with their high school home.

Thanks to all of the alumni who returned to visit YISS and to all of the staff who made the events during Homecoming week possible!
