On the evening of Tuesday, April 24, 2018, the YISS first grade students presented their spring concert, which was titled “Awesome Animals.” The students worked hard to prepare for the concert and to present the idea that animals are God’s creation, and we have been called to be caretakers of them.

Towards the middle of the concert, students excitedly sang their favorite song, "In The Wild," which included animal sounds and had an upbeat tempo. Each first grade class separately presented a traditional nursery rhyme, including “Pop Goes The Weasel,” “On a Log,” “Los Pollitos,” and “Hickory Dickory Dock.” Students played various non-pitched percussion instruments to accompany each nursery rhyme, as well as body percussion ostinatos.

During the song, “Unlikely Buddies,” one student conductor from each class joined Miss Regnier to direct their classmates during the song. The first graders showed off their talents through speaking, skits, instrument playing, and more. The evening concluded with the energetic song, "Animal Friends."
