YISS Forensics Receives Notable Recognition at KIS Tournament

For the first forensics tournament of the year, the YISS Forensics Club competed at Korea International School (KIS) on October 19 and 20, 2018. Members of the speech sector performed successfully across these categories, with notable recognition as follows:
Ryan H. (12) – 3rd Place (Extemporaneous)
Ashley Y. (12) – 2nd Place (Prose)
Jake L. (12) – 3rd Place (Prose)
Matthew K. (11) –- 1st Place, Finalist (Original Oratory, Impromptu)
Jasmine C. (11) – 2nd Place (Original Oratory)
Nicole H. (9) – Finalist (Poetry)

Captain Shelley C. (12) commented, “Although I was unable to compete, it was so
heartwarming to see all of the members work so hard and bring back great results. I’d also
like to congratulate Nicole for making it to the finals in one of the most competitive
categories in her first KAIAC tournament. I can’t wait to see our members grow in both
their speaking ability and communication skills as we look forward to more tournaments to

As for debate, members competed in all three categories: parliamentary, public
forum, and Lincoln-Douglas. Congratulations to Ryan H. (12) and Matthew K. (11) for
taking 3rd place in parliamentary!
