Clubs & Activities
Co-curricular activities and clubs complement what students learn in the classroom and give them opportunities to explore different interests.
After School Activities
Activities are provided to enrich the middle school experience, giving opportunities for students to develop new skills outside the classroom. Activities vary each trimester but typically include options in athletics, games, language & cultures, and the arts. Below is a sample of activities that have been offered in the past.
Student Clubs
Students have opportunities to learn more about topics of special interest in middle school clubs while making connections with fellow peers and teachers.
Art Journals Club
Students decorate journals and write/draw/paint in them.
Baking Club
Students learn how to bake and sell the products in bake sales.
Boys Basketball
Students develop proper athletic training, knowledge, and discipline on the basketball court through hard work, self-maintenance, time management, repetition, motivation, and a positive attitude.
Chess Club
Students learn the basics and strategies of chess and compete with one another.
Chinese Club
Students are able to experience Chinese culture through many different activities.
Current Events Club
Students connect with the world around them through the news.
Game for Science Club
Students test their knowledge and skills in an interactive online game by solving challenges to earn points.
Leadership
Students become stronger leaders by being proactive and taking the initiative to be successful. Effective communication, goal setting, use of personal strengths, and problem-solving skills are learned.
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)
To instill in students respect, a sharp mind, a healthy body, and practical self-defense skills, students are taught Taekwondo techniques & sparring skills combined with Hapkido joint manipulation & restraint techniques.
Model United Nations (MUN)
Students assume the role of nations while learning leadership and negotiation skills.
Ping Pong Club
Students learn the basics of ping pong and compete with one another.
Reading Appreciation Program (RAP)
Students learn how to appreciate reading through their own curiosity and interests in different genres.
Realistic Sketching
Realistic Sketching aims to develop sketching skills with the use of pencils. Pieces are focused on realism, such as portraits of people, animals, or nature. Students also learn how to use grid drawing to design realistic artwork.
Soccer
Coach Johnny has taught for 20+ years and holds a class "A" coaching license. Students focus on learning proper playing techniques to enhance their tactical knowledge of the beautiful game.
Student Council (STUCO)
Students on Student Council cultivate leadership skills while organizing events.
Swimming
Swimmers range from beginners submerging for the first time to winning medals in the Olympics! There are several classes offered, and students are challenged to grow wherever they fall on the swimming continuum.
Tri-M Music Honor Society
Tri-M grows leadership and encourages musical service both within and outside the community by providing students with opportunities to practice their leadership skills and to showcase their musical creativity.
Water Polo
In the deep end of the pool, students learn the basic skills involved with water polo while having plenty of time to play the game. Students practice teamwork and different types of swimming techniques to increase their skills.
Worldview Debate Club
Students discuss and debate world issues and topics.
Zentangle
Zentangle is the relaxing form of art of making different patterns on images. Students explore making different patterns to creatively express their desired images.
