Admissions Timeline

YISS has rolling enrollment and will accept applications throughout the school year to be considered for mid-year openings.  Thus, there is no specified due date for applications, however, it is recommend that applications and required documents be submitted by mid-March when possible.

STEP 1:  Complete and Submit YISS Admissions Application & Required Documents
Applications are released in January for the upcoming school year that begins in August.   Please be sure to use the correct application when applying to YISS.

Applications will only be reviewed and considered after all required documents are submitted and verified. No payment is due when application is submitted.

STEP 2:  Process and Review of Application
Testing & Interview:  If a test is deemed necessary and if space is available, YISS will contact the applicant’s parent(s) to schedule an interview and/or test.  When an applicant sits for an interview or test, a non-refundable application Processing Fee of KRW300,000 is required, whether or not the applicant is able to be accepted.

In most cases, applicants entering kindergarten and first grade are required to have an informal interview and assesment prior to acceptance.

STEP 3:  Acceptance
In most cases, acceptance will be offered in April and May for the upcoming school year or as spaces become available.

STEP 4:  Confirm Enrollment
Once an applicant is accepted, all tuition and school fees are due by the designated due date to secure a space.

STEP 5:  Submit Additional Documents (prior to start date)
Before the first day of school, the following steps are required:

  1. Physician’s Examination Form (including TB screening and immunization records)
  2. Final and official transcript/school records
  3. For high school students, a meeting with one of our guidance counselors is required to select classes, prior to starting class.

WAITPOOL
Qualified applicants who are not accepted due to space availability are placed in our waitpool and will be considered if spaces become available.

In an effort to maintain a balance in gender and diversity and to ensure academic success and availability of needed programs or classes; when a space becomes available, the admissions office will consider these factors, along with admission’s priority categories, when selecting an applicant that best complements the class.

The waitpool does not have a chronological or predetermined order based on order of receipt of application. Consequently, the admissions office cannot provide numbers for students in the waitpool or predict availability as our numbers can change daily. However, we will try to be realistic with families about their chances of being admitted in a certain grade at a particular time.

If you continue to have a strong interest in your child’s acceptance during the school year, it is important to keep the application current by sending recent school records as they become available.  In the event of a mid-year vacancy, immediate decisions can be made only on complete and current files.

The waitpool is maintained for the applying year only; all applicants who are interested in any subsequent year must re-apply.
